Fact Check: Did Amit Shah tweet that Internet would be snapped in J&K ?

Fake Side:

A screen capture of an implied tweet of association home priest Amit Shah has circulated around the web on social medi”Fixed Line, Broadband and Mobile Internet administrations to be snapped in UTs of J&K and Ladakh from this evening,” the tweet read.


After the special status given to J&K, internet services were suspended initially. However, broadband and low-speed 2G internet services has been restored.

True Side:

Ministry of home affairs (MHA) spokesperson confirmed that the screenshot is fake. “A tweet is circulating in the name of Union Home Minister mentioning fixed-line broadband and internet in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to be snapped. This tweet is fake. No such tweet has been done from Union Home Minister’s twitter handle,” tweeted the spokesperson, Ministry of Home Affairs.


Going through Amit shah’s twitter handle we couldn’t find any such tweet posted.

Thus the claim that the internet will be snapped in Jammu and Kashmir is fake. The screenshot of Amit Shah’s tweet is fake.
